Single electron transfer in thermally annealed nanoparticle dropcast thick films

چکیده
A very simple and effective procedure based on thermal annealing was reported in inducing discrete charge transfer in nanoparticle solid films. The particle ensembles were prepared by dropcasting a particle solution onto an interdigitated array electrode. The as-prepared particle films exhibited only linear featureless current-potential profiles in conductivity measurements, whereas after thermal annealing, well-defined staircase features of single electron transfer started to emerge at temperatures higher than 300 K. This was accounted for by the combined consequence of structural rearrangements of nanoparticle cores within the organic protecting matrix and thermal activation of interparticle charge transport. © 2009 American Institute of Physics. Temperature-modulated scanning tunneling spectroscopy of gold nanoparticle dropcast films
The electronic conductivity of a gold nanoparticle dropcast film was examined by temperature-modulated scanning tunneling spectroscopy (STS). The low-conductance Coulomb blockade was found to shrink with increasing temperature, which at ambient temperature (ca. 290 K) diminished completely. Concomitantly, the potential spacing between adjacent peaks observed in the Coulomb staircase features ex...
متن کاملImproving Electrochromic Properties of WO3 Thin Film with Gold Nanoparticle Additive
In this research, WO3 and Au-WO3 thin films were prepared at different temperatures using the sol gel method. The effect of gold nanoparticles (GNPs) on the electrochromic properties of WO3 was also studied. 2.5 nm GNP was synthesized through sodium citrate reduction of gold chloride in an aqueous solution. These films were characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM, and spectrophotometer analyses. The fil...

Lately intense research interests have been focused on the electronic conductivity properties of transition-metal nanoparticles (e.g., Au, Pd, and Ag) that are passivated by an organic monolayer (i.e., the so-called monolayer-protected nanoparticles).1 With such a core-shell composite nanostructure, the resulting conductivity can be tailored by the combined effects of the conductive inorganic c...

We report a facile strategy for the preparation of sub-5 nm gold/platinum (Au-Pt) nanoparticles which are thermally stabilized by a crosslinked polymer shell. Diblock copolymer (PS-b-PI-SH) ligands on the Au nanoparticles were used to crosslink the vinyl functionalities on PI via hydrosilylation with 1,1,3,3tetramethyldisiloxane in the presence of a platinum catalyst. The Pt catalyst was reduce...
متن کاملLong Distance Electron Transfer Across >100 nm Thick Au Nanoparticle/Polyion Films to a Surface Redox Protein.
Glutathione-decorated 5 nm gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and oppositely charged poly(allylamine hydrochloride) (PAH) were assembled into {PAH/AuNP} n films fabricated layer-by-layer (LbL) on pyrolytic graphite (PG) electrodes. These AuNP/polyion films utilized the AuNPs as electron hopping relays to achieve direct electron transfer between underlying electrodes and redox proteins on the outer film...
